Handicap
The
united states golf association (USGA) Handicap System is
applied to local golfers.
This is to make the game of golf enjoyable by enabling golfers of
differing abilities to compete on an equitable
basis.
A golfer begins with a Handicap Index and adjusts
that
number depending on the difficulty of the golf course
being
played.
The handicap calculated reflects a golfer's 'potential' ability to
play the
game.
With this in mind the system disregards unusually high
holes played or rounds
posted.
One of the basic premises of the USGA system is that
a golfer will try
to make the best score he can on each
and every round he
plays, and that he will post
every
acceptable round for peer
review.

Mind
Game
Stay in the present
; only focus on the shot in hand
and not on what score it is for.
Find a pre-shot routine and stick to
it ; it will help when the
pressure is on. If you deviate from this or have any doubts
about the shot, back off and start again.
Visualise the shot you are about to
play ; it will give you more
confidence when making the shot, which in turn will increase the
likelihood of it happening.
Trust your swing ; you
have spent all that time practicing, so let it happen.
Think positive ;don't
think 'avoid the water ' , think 'hit the green' |
